This could be an indicator of many things, but the predominant cause is likely a lack of defined processes for executing, testing or reporting on marketing activity.
Without a process to follow, work becomes ad hoc and can easily overwhelm a team. Developing a standard operating procedure (SOP) or a workflow can help your team work in an organised fashion and give them guidelines to work within.
For small teams, draft an SOP and test the process to see if it runs in a way that works for the team. Iterate and refine until you’re happy. Be rigorous in your assessment and don’t let the ball drop once you’ve implemented it on the first try.
Once the team has refined a sequence of actions/steps within an SOP, look for areas where you can introduce automation to optimise the process further.
