If you can’t explain what you do in one sentence, you’re probably getting into extraneous details too early or you might need to spend some time clarifying the purpose of your business.
You don’t necessarily have to get into the details of how you do what you do, but you should be able to state the end benefit and your target audience/s concisely.
A template you can use to clarify your one sentence pitch:
We have created [your category of offering] to help [target audience] solve [core problem] by [unique value prop].
TIP
How well have you communicated your one-sentence pitch with your team? Get everyone together and take turns sharing each person’s one-sentence pitch. You might be surprised with what some people say.
