TME Troubleshoots

Your biggest challenge

“I'd like the team to contribute to creating content for the brand but I'm the only one who really 'gets' the brand.”

What tme says

Don’t fret, this is an easier fix than you think. To get the team contributing to the content, whether that’s socials, newsletters, blogs or videos, and speaking in the voice of your brand, you need to establish Communication Guidelines that detail key messages, tone of voice and a channel guide. Brand guidelines will also help if you need to consider visual elements.

Right now, you’ve got the brand personality in your head which is why it’s easy for you to create the content, but when others try to do it, they might be a little off the mark.

Defining your key messages can be more straightforward, but your tone of voice is where the personality of the brand comes through.

Codify your brand’s personality by imagining your brand is a person. What kind of characteristics (brand values) do they show? How do they speak? What words would they use? What words wouldn’t they use?

With a bit of practice and a document to refer to, it’ll be easier for others (internal or external) to understand how to write for the brand and you can get some time back into your day.
