Your biggest challenge
“Our team struggles to implement or adopt our marketing strategy or they don't represent the brand as we want them to.”
What tme says
Resistance or confusion around a marketing strategy can be caused by a few things:
The strategy hasn’t been developed with the input of the team OR there is no feedback loop to review elements of the strategy.
Bringing your team along for the marketing ride is a huge determinant of how successful your strategy will be. For people to understand the strategy and how it will get the team towards their goals, they need to have some sort of input into its development or its refinement. Everyone in the team should be able to provide some insights to their specific vertical which could help marketing understand more about the customer, internal processes or the product or service.
Lack of communication around how the marketing strategy fits into the company goals.
It’s easy to quickly get into the details of what each department needs to achieve, but while you as the manager have been in the weeds with discussing big company goals and ambitious targets, not everyone on the team is as aware of the broader goals. This can lead to people not understanding why you’re taking a certain approach, which in turn, may cause some internal resistance.
Too much focus on the business and not enough focus on the customer.
Whatever business you run, in whatever industry you pursue, your goal should be to provide the best experience to your customer. Everything you do should be centred around their experience with your brand, your team and your product or service.
Help your team understand the impact of their roles on enhancing the overall customer experience. This shifts the focus from internal processes to delivering value to customers.
